Born in Hong Kong, Anna Vienna Ho is a versatile musician who has worked as a concert pianist, répétiteur, composer, opera singer and conductor for a number of music organizations, including Welsh National Opera, Birmingham Opera Company, Tête à Tête Opera Festival, Opera Novella, London Oriana Choir and Bel Canto Singers among others. She has been selected as a Du Vert a L'infini festival Artist, Syntropy Artist, RMN Classical Artist and the Montpelier Arts Center Classical Recital Artist. Anna gained an Advanced Postgraduate Diploma and a Master of Music in Piano Performance with distinction from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. Prior to that, she received her Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Music from Hong Kong Baptist University. She received numerous awards and scholarships, including the Malcolm John Bullock Memorial Trust Award, the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Association Award, the HKSAR Talent Development Scholarship and more.
Anna was the winner of numerous international piano competitions, including Concours International Leopold Bellan, Rome International Music Competition, International Robert Schumann Klavier Welttbert, Internationaler Deutscher Irmler-Klavierwettbewerb and Abergavenny Eisteddfod Y Fenni among others. As a pianist, Anna has given solo recitals and performed in many concert venue in Asia and Europe, including Royal Albert Hall, Birmingham Town Hall, Parco della Musica and Hong Kong City Hall. Besides performing as a soloist, Anna is also an experienced collaborative pianist who has performed in various chamber recitals and collaborated with many choirs and orchestras. She has also worked as a repetiteur for Opera Novella, Midland Opera, Welsh National Opera and Bel Canto Singers.
Anna has also appeared frequently as a vocalist. Passionate about opera, Anna's performances encompass works from the Baroque period to the modern era. She has sung the role of Giannetta in L'elisir d'amore, Frasquita in Carmen, First Lay Sister in Suor Angelica for Musica Viva, Geraldine in A hand of Bridge for HKIIM, The Third Apparition in Verdi's Macbeth for Opera In A Box and Gherardino in Puccini's Gianni Schicchi for the London Gay Symphony Orchestra. She was the first prize winner of several music festivals, Holmfirth Musical Festival, Newcastle-U-Lyme Festival of Music, and the Coulsdon and Purley Festival, to name a few.
Anna's compositions include instrumental, vocal, electroacoustic, multi-media and operatic works, premiered worldwide by various musicians. She has collaborated and was commissioned by many organizations, including the New Generation 2014("The Forester", for String Quartet), London Oriana Choir("The Infinite Shining Heavens" for SATB choir), Birmingham Opera Company("It Gets Lighter From Here" digital project), Animal Hope Varna(promotion videos collaborated with Bulgarian Artist Tatiana Arsova), David Bohn's Twenty Seconds of 2020 project("Chase", for solo Clavietta), Fifteen Minutes of Fame project("Fedora", for solo bass flute), Tête à Tête Opera Festival("Buddha and the Monkey King", "The Monk of the River" & "The Monster of Gao Village"), Château du Fresne-Saint-Mamès("Sea Creatures in our Minds and Hearts"), Radio Luxembourg's Radio Arts District and the Chijana International Festival, Radiophrenia Glagrow, LCB Depot’s Sound 2023 Leicester, “Containment” Exhibition Hong Kong("Dynamic Zero"), Syntropy States("Orion") and K622 Clarinet Ensembles(“Inevitable”) and more.
Besides performing, Anna is passionate about teaching and devoted entirely to music education and choral conducting. In addition to privately teaching voice, piano and music theory for over ten years, Anna has worked in many music centres and companies and has been an instrumental music tutor, orchestra and choir conductor at various primary and secondary schools. She has also led students to perform in nursing homes, community centres, shopping malls and other venues. Anna was a jury member of the Russian Instrumental and Vocal Art Festival International Music Competition and the Virtuozy International Music Competition. She is currently the lecturer and examiner of Hong Kong International Institute of Music(HKIIM), vocal instructor and choir conductor of Yip's Children's Choir and several primary and secondary schools. Her students have won awards in multiple competitions, including the Birmingham Music Festival, Asia-Pacific Outstanding Young Pianists Competition, Hong Kong School Music Festival, Hong Kong Arts Promotion of Performing Arts Festival, Hong Kong Inter-School Music Competition, GASCA Tokyo International Music Competition, Greater Bay Area Music Competition, Asia Pacific Youth Elite Piano Competition, and more.
